Announcing the first SELF-COOLING, permanent magnet, brushless DC motor!

AMEMCO is proud to present its super efficient, all-electric outboard motor. Unlike standard motors that require cooling fans to dissipate internally generated heat, the AMEMCO motor runs totally submerged and is cooled by the very water it's plowing through. The AMEMCO motor is designed with the stator windings on the outside of the unit, allowing heat to flow right into the water. In addition, the power components of the FETS in the electronic drive system (patent pending) also have a direct heat path to the surrounding water, meaning there is nothing to inhibit the system from delivering the most power directly to the propeller. [direct drive ]

The super-quiet electric system eliminates noise, water and air pollution. In addition, the drive system requires virtually no maintenance as the shaft bearings and seals are the only components to come in contact with one another.

The control panel consists of a forward, reverse and off position switch, a speed control and a meter that displays how much power has been consumed, how much power is left, and how far the boat will travel under the current conditions at the current rate of power usage.

The drives will be available with either a standard "stick" drive handle, steering wheel control or as a remotely controlled unit.

The drive system will be available with a solar assisted power source for mobile use as well as a stationary land based charging system. 110/220 VAC charging systems with standard outlets and voltage regulators will also be available, as well as fiberglass battery boxes in which the charging system can also be mounted.

The drives will be available in two sizes: the 36 VDC model has 5.5 HP with 10.3 pound feet of torque and the 48 VDC model has 6.2 HP with 12.9 pound feet of torque, both available on a continuous basis. Higher voltages are expected to be available later.

The drive system weighs approximately 62 pounds without the batteries, however the boat sees only approximately half of that weight as the motor itself is submerged.
